Mental Wellbeing support
If you or someone you know is struggling with their mental wellbeing, please find below a range of support services:

If you or someone you know requires immediate medical attention, or in immediate danger, then dial 999 or go to A&E.
If you or someone you know needs urgent mental health care, but it is not life threatening, call NHS 111 and select Option 2.
Mental Health 111 (Option 2) is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and is free to call from a mobile (even when the caller has no credit left) or from a landline.
When you call, a Mental Health & Wellbeing Practitioner will talk through how you are feeling. They can provide brief interventions over the phone to help you cope with how you are feeling. They can also arrange referrals to mental health services, if needed.

If you are having thoughts of suicide or are concerned for a young person who might be, you can contact HOPELINE247 for confidential support and practical advice. Call 0800 068 4141, text 88247 or email pat@papyrus-uk.org (lines are open 24 hours every day of the years) - The suicide prevention advisers are ready to support you.
- CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) have a suicide prevention helpline for anyone affected by suicide or suicidal thoughts. Call 0800 58 58 58 (open from 5pm-midnight every day) for free, confidential and anonymous support.
- Shout is the UK's first 24/7 text service, free on all major mobile networks for anyone in crisis anytime, anywhere. It's a place to go if you're struggling to cope and need immediate help. Shout is powered by a team of volunteers, who are at the heart of the service. We take people from crisis to calm every single day. Text 'shout' to 85258

MELO - Melo can help you look after your mental wellbeing. While we can't take away life's problems, we can help you find better ways to cope with them. Visit melo.cymru for information on local opportunities, resources and courses to help you find ways to look after your mental wellbeing. Melo covers a range of topics including anxiety, depression, sleep, menopause, mindfulness and much more! All materials are reviewed and monitored by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

SPACE Wellbeing is a multi-agency process to co-ordinate help, including both early intervention and specialist provision, for children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Childline is here to help anyone under 19 in the UK with any issue they’re going through. You can talk about anything. Whether it’s something big or small, our trained counsellors are here to support you.

Call on 0800 1111 – the number will not show up on your phone bill.
Support available 24/7.
You can also contact Childline online. BSL available Mon-Fri 8am-8pm and Sat 8am-1pm. Welsh speaker available on request, appointment will be scheduled.
- Meic is the helpline service for children and young people up to the age of 25 in Wales. From finding out what’s going on in your local area to help dealing with a tricky situation, Meic will listen even when no-one else will. We won’t judge you and will help by giving you information, useful advice and the support you need to make a change.

- Mental Health Helpline For Wales (C.A.L.L.) provides a confidential mental health listening and emotional support line which is open 24/7. C.A.L.L. can also signpost to support in local communities and a range of online information.

If you are struggling to cope and need someone to talk to, Samaritans will listen. You can contact Samaritans 24 hours a day, 365 days a year on 116 123 (free from any phone) or email jo@samaritans.org.
You can also call the Samaritans Welsh Language Line (free from any phone) on 0808 164 0123 (7pm–11pm every day).

The Silver Line Helpline run by Age UK is a free, confidential telephone service for older people (55+ years). They provide friendship, conversation and support (especially for those who may be experiencing feelings of loneliness and isolation) 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call them for free on 0800 4 70 80 90
- Mental health and wellbeing services are available at your GP surgery. If you are 18+ and experiencing mental health concerns you may be able to speak to a Psychological Health Practitioner. This is not an emergency service and should you feel your concerns are of a more serious nature, please speak to your GP. For more information, please speak to your GP or receptionist about the Psychological Health Practitioner service.
- Wellbeing Connectors (Caerphilly) are here to help individuals struggling with loneliness and isolation. Call them on 01443 811490 or email caerphillycares@caerphilly.gov.uk
- Jacob Abraham Foundation supports anyone affected by a death by suicide of someone ages 26 years and over, and who lives in the Gwent area of Wales. Call 0292 240 4736 or 07838 172082 (The Foundation is closed Saturdays and Sundays).
- Men.Talk.Walk are a Men's group (based in Caerphilly) who help end the stigma of Men's mental health and wellbeing in the Caerphilly area and beyond! They go on weekly walks and allow men to talk to others about mental health. Contact mentalkwalk@gmail.com for more information.
